About the journey......
Greg Piper is an award winning photographer, whose career in the visual arts and the media spans more than 35 years. His images have been honored with a Hasselblad Masters award and several Australian Institute of Professional Photographers awards gaining the distinction of (aaipp) associate. He has had images exhibited at the AGNSW, Australia.
Greg has been a constant provider of photographic imagery starting his career as a medical photographer at the “Illustration Department”, University of Sydney, Australia.
There he refined his photographic skills in Medical & Veterinary science, Architecture, Engineering, Power gallery and Fine arts faculty publications.
Following this, he held the position of manager "Photographic and Audio Visual Unit", Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, Australia for eleven years and was instrumental in establishing and designing the service facilities within this primary state museum complex.
There he implemented an extensive range of image services towards the construction of many major internal or traveling exhibitions, interactive kiosks, retail displays and publications. Not only photographic still images but also VHS video, 16mm cine-film and Multi projector sound/slide presentations for the redevelopment of this large cultural info/entertainment complex.
He was instrumental in establishing and designing the computerized retrieval of archived images representing the collection's objects and artworks. This also incorporated the monitoring of all curatorial departments annual photographic budget allocations and their spend.
This was effectively used as the template for the institutions finance department.
Greg has lectured on the topic of photography to T.A.F.E graphic design and photography students as well as colleagues at A.C.P and fine art students at the University of Sydney.
He has also mentored several photographers, with many, taking up prominent positions in high profile government and private commercial ventures.
For twenty-four years he has operated his own freelance photographic studio catering to the needs of various Advertising, Commercial and Government agencies as well as the Fine Arts & Craft communities. He continues to specialize in studio and location photography using high-end digital camera equipment or film when required.
Utilising electronic flash or available lighting where required and applying a perceptive understanding of composition with an instinct for the selection of appropriate lighting combinations, his images are created that bring the subjects alive.

These days he continues to undertake various photographic genres as well as participating in part time teaching and mentoring.
